"I am running against someone who supports a company that was charged with two felonies for illegally storing highly regulated chemicals, and is a serial violator. It's time to vote for someone who won't sell out Hawaii and isn't a supporter of a company who is guilty of poisoning our communities."

I am a veteran. I served in the Army as a E4/SP4, and I come from a family of veterans that have fought for this county, to include my son who served 12 years. While serving in the Army I was ambitious and qualified and trained for two MOS positions (job positions, )I was also an armorer and training liason. I received honors for receiving the highest scores in training, chosen for special duty, and served through the Grenada conflict. Serving in the military gave me structure and an opportunity to further my education to where I attended college and my major was Administrative justice.
In my younger years, my father moved us to the Big Island, and that is where my love for Hawaii started. Many memories of local fun, local businesses, and lots of Aloha. To live in and be part of the Hawaiian culture and the spirit of Aloha was an experience I believe was gift and always has always been ingrained in my heart. My father always instilled in us, "Respect the culture, respect the Aina". Having that experience and memories is what brought me back to Hawaii, however it led me to the island of Maui.
I am married to Barry McKay who is a 6th generation Mauiian. He is a descendant from the generations ascended from Haleakala Ranch. There is a lot of great history not only with Haleakala ranch, but Upcounty Maui. As a professional photographer, I have had many opportunities to photograph and document legends of this community, brandings, events, and moments. It is a very special place. The local history as well as the agricultural community plays such a huge part in the hearts as well as the sustainability. I am very proud to be part of a family and ranch that is still perpetuating the Paniolo lifestyle as well as being a leader in reforestation in planting Koa trees.
My husband and I not only own and operate an animal care business, but we farm Protea and have several animals of our own. Sheep, ponies, Dogs, cats, and even our Pet Piggy Tiffany. I am also a professional photographer. I have photographed some great entertainers as well as I have been published and showcased at the Hui in Makawao. I also have an active real Estate license in Las Vegas, Hawaii's 9th island. My husband also oversees security for local ranches and was previously with the Maui Police Department. We definitely keep busy.
Over the years, I have been involved in various activities that had effect in the community to include chairing the Maui County Up County fair. The Upcountry fair was a great historical event that supported Agriculture, 4-H, perpetuated the Paniolo lifestyle, and family. I was part of the historical event for over 8 years. During the time I chaired, we introduced a scholarship program for the seniors of 4-H, introduced the Paniolo Tent, and we were able to create a successful and inclusive event annually to the Upcountry Community that embraced family and Upcounty values. Perpetuating the Paniolo lifestyle has always been an important part of Maui and it should never be forgotten.
Being the Maui County Republican Chair allowed me a platform to see things a little closer on how the "system" works and how it does NOT work. Being the Maui County Republican Chair allowed me a platform to see things a little closer on how the "system" works and how it does NOT work. Since I was elected to the Chair, it has been a fight to make changes. We made changes on how the party on Maui was viewed. We implemented needed changes to the bylaws and we grew in unity as well as created strength with all who are joining our party. Our continued focus is to register voters, and ensure we have a fair and balance election. Under my leadership and having an amazing team, we have been able to accomplish a lot of wins and build credibility within the community. Raising funds, hosting high profile events, obtaining our own bank account, get our own data base started, are some of our many accomplishments. It has been a huge and very satisfying journey.
I also serve as a Grassroots coordinator for the Convention of States, and am the Co Founder of the Aloha Maui Republican Womens chapter. Because of these experiences, it has prepared me for the next step which is to serve "THE PEOPLE" of Maui. We need someone with courage to stand for the rights of the people, someone who has a love for Hawaii, honors the history, recognizes the struggles, and has compassion for those in need. I am that someone who can be a voice to ensure the Hawaiian culture is perpetuated and we all find a solution in a united effort. This can be done with the right person. I AM the right person. I stand for Unity, I am for Affordability, Sustainability and Independence. In order for the people to flourish, we need change in legislation, change in the Jones act, creating opportunities for the local communities to benefit from other avenues other than tourism. We need to set boudaries on absentee ownership, controlled rent increases and limit foreign investors purchases to buy out Hawaii. We can't allow price increases and cost of living to get out of control to where it prices out generations of families from their home...Hawaii. I will fight for what is right and I will fight for the return of the Aloha spirit.
I served this country, and I am ready to serve again...for the people of Hawaii, no matter what party affiliation and no matter what demographics...it is about US, "WE" the people, it's about Hawaii and it's about America.
There are many issues that affect Maui and Hawaii over all that make our County and State vulnerable. Those are issues that not only affect the community but the soul of Hawaii. There are many issues that affect Maui and Hawaii over all that make our County and State vulnerable. Those are issues that not only affect the community but the soul of Hawaii. People all over the world dream of Hawaii and the Aloha spirit, and it is being destroyed by bad policies that are driving generations of families out as well as the Native Hawaiian culture being driven to extinction. Allowing big businesses, foreign entities, and investors to take advantage over the communities is shameful. It's time for change and time for action. It's time for the Hawaii citizens, to vote someone in who is fierce and who has the courage to try and fix the system as well as to stand against those who profit off the backs of the people. It's time to bring Hawaii to the forefront and be self sustaining, a leader in investing in its people and entrepreneurship, creative thinking to address affordable housing and incentives to those who reside in Hawaii to be the pioneers, embrace family values, and keep parenting in the home and not in government control. The Parents are the drivers to their children's futures and the educators need to do what they are hired to do, which is to teach education and not anything outside of their curriculum.
We need to ensure the people are safe and that their freedoms are protected. We need to ensure the Constitution of the United States is protected as well as to protect the Hawaii Constitution.
As I mentioned, it was my father who first brought us to Hawaii, in the 70's, and it was the Hawaiian culture that we fell in love with. He taught us, "respect the Aina and respect the culture". It wasn't big box corporations that brought me back to Hawaii almost 20 years ago, it was the Aloha from the people, the mom and pop businesses, the beauty of the islands. Those who were elected to protect it all, exploited it and the spirit has almost disappeared. The housing prices have been driven out of reach for future generations by cronyism, back door deals, unfair water rights, absentee ownership, and more.
I will fight for policy change and system repair, I will fight for the people, I will fight for family, I will fight for Maui and the Hawaii we love.
Together lets do this. A vote for me is a vote for you.
WE CAN DO THIS IF "WE STAND UNITED"
